- Do not force an unwilling child to participate in sports.
- Remember children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
- Encourage your child to always play by the rules.
- Teach you child that honest effort is as important as victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
- Help you child work towards skill improvement and good sportsmanship.
Make an effort not to shout.
- Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good plays by members of the opposing team.
- Do not publicly question the officials’ judgement and never their honesty.
- Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children’s sporting activity.
- Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches. They give up their time and resources to provide recreational activities for your child.
- Make the effort to bring your children to the sporting event, so as not to let down their team mates.
- Although we welcome positive support, spectators should not coach from the sidelines. Intimidation of the umpires will not be tolerated
