- In the preliminary round robin, teams are awarded – 5 points for a win, and 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a scoring loss.
- If there is a tie for 1st and 2nd place to go through to the semi final, positions will be determined by the number of rounders scored. If it is still a tie, position will be decided by the number of rounders conceded and if a still a draw, it will be decided by the result of the match between the two teams. In the semi finals, the final and the 3rd/4th place play offs, if the game ends as a draw, 7 extra balls will be played until a winner is determined.
ORDER OF PLAY
- The maximum number of squads allowed per village is 2 in each of the four age categories. The draw will take place prior to the day of competition and teams will only be accepted by the organisers in advance of the draw.
JUNIOR RULES
- No substitutions during play except for injury.
- Rules as per Short Rounders Rules as follows – 7 players in a team
- 1 innings per team, 2 strikes per player (14 good balls) irrespective of being caught out on first ball.
- Softee ball will be used
- Distances between bases will be 8m for 7 – 9yrs and 10m for 10 – 11yrs
- Distance from the batting square to the bowling line will be 5.5m for 7 – 9yrs and 7m for 10 – 11yrs.
- Ball is fielded straight back to the bowler who must be in the bowling square.
- Bowler holds the ball in the air and shouts STOP.
- If the batter is between bases – NO SCORE
- If the batter is caught out – NO SCORE
- SCORING – 1st base – 1 point
2nd base – 2 points
3rd base – 3 points
4th base – 6 points
- Batters then return to the end of the batting queue to bat again.
- Backward hits – the batter may only run to 1st base until the ball is fielded over the batting line.
- NO BALLS – below the knee
- above the head
- on or behind the body
- wide, beyond normal reach of the batter
- 3 consecutive no – balls counts as 1 good ball and the batter will be awarded 3 POINTS (1/2 a rounder). The batter stays in the batting square. If a further 3 consecutive no balls are called. A further 3 POINTS will be awarded and the batter will then return to the end of the batting queue having been awarded 6 POINTS in total. This rule is to stop bowlers “throwing the ball away” to limit batting teams to only 3 POINTS instead of a possible 6.
- Where a bowl is good and if the batter misses, the back stop misses and the ball goes beyond the spectator barriers, the ball is called “dead ball” by the umpire. The bowl is not counted in the 14 good balls.
- If the ball does not go beyond the spectator barrier the ball is still “live”.
- If the ball is hit backwards and goes beyond the spectator barrier the ball must be returned to the backstop behind the batting line, play will then continue. This will be counted as a good ball.
- If the ball is miss fielded and goes beyond the spectator barrier play will continue.
