AGE GROUPS – 12 - 14yrs, 15 – 17yrs.
TEAM SIZE – 9 girls from a previously named squad of 12. Squad players should be rotated to allow everyone a game. In the 15 – 17 year old age group, only one team, per village, allowed.
FORMAT – Preliminary round robin competition organised in 2 leagues (where possible). For the semi-finals, the winners of Group A will play the runners-up of Group B. The winners of Group B will play the runners-up of Group A. There will then be a final and a 3rd/ 4th place play-off.
SENIOR RULES
Rules are per National Rounders Rules with the following exceptions:
- No substitutions during play, except for injury.
- Each team has 1 innings consisting of 18 good balls.
- For counting purposes, 3 consecutive ‘No balls’ will count as ½ rounder. Batter stays for another sequence of balls. If 3 consecutive ‘No balls’ is called again, another ½ rounder is awarded. Batter returns to the end of the batting queue having scored 1 full rounder.
- A hard rounders ball will be used.
- In the senior competition, the team must be numbered 1 – 9 in accordance with batting order – see below.
SCORING
- 1 rounder is scored if 4th post is reached and touched.
- 1 rounder is scored if 4th post is reached on ‘No ball’.
- ½ rounder is scored if 4th post is reached without hitting the ball.
- ½ rounder is scored for 3 consecutive ‘No balls’.
- NOTE – 2nd base, ½ rounder rule will apply.
- Where a bowl is good and if the batter misses, the back stop misses and the ball goes beyond the spectator barriers, the ball is called “dead ball” by the umpire. The bowl is not counted in the 18 good balls.
- If the ball does not go beyond the spectator barrier the ball is still “live”.
- If the ball is hit backwards and goes beyond the spectator barrier the ball must be returned to the backstop behind the batting line, play will then continue. This will be counted as a good ball.
- If the ball is miss fielded and goes beyond the spectator barrier play will continue.
- Teams will be awarded 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a scoring loss. .
- In the round-robin league matches, if there is a tie for 1st and / or 2nd to go through to the final, the results will be decided on match between them.
- If there is still a tie, the result will be decided on rounders scored.
- If there is still a tie, the result will be decided on the toss of a coin.
- In the 3rd/4th place play-off and finals, if the game is a draw, 9 good balls will be played until a winner is decided.
- If only a round-robin league is formed, the first place will be awarded gold; second place, silver; third place, bronze and fourth, slate.
BATTING ORDER
- Bowler 6. 4th Base
- Backstop 7. 1st Deep
- 1st Base 8. 2nd Deep
- 2ndBase 9. 3rd Deep
