Welcome to the Uppermill section of the Saddleworth Village Olympics web site!
Welcome, especially, to the children of Uppermill who will be representing the village in the 2008 games. I and the rest of the coaching staff and helpers look forward to welcoming you all, whether this is your first games or indeed whether you have represented the village over a number of years.
Whilst we strive to compete against our fellow Saddleworth villages in friendly competition the most important thing is taking part and being part of "Team Uppermill".
Last year was a fantastic year for Uppermill; we narrowly lost out on taking the overall winners trophy, finishing as runners up to LGFG. As a village we won the following trophies:

• Junior Athletics
• 7,8 & 9’s Cricket
• 10 & 11’s Cricket
• 7,8 &9’s Badminton
• 10 & 11’s Badminton
• 10 &11’s Rugby
• 12 to 14’s Football

I would like to take this opportunity of reminding all our competitors, parents and helpers that one of the most important trophies we play for is the Frank Sykes Fair Play Award. Although we did not win the award in 2007, won by Dobcross, we have been the most frequent winners in recent years and intend to repeat our success by taking part in a sporting and friendly manner to all match officials and indeed our rival teams.
So, here's to another great year for Team Uppermill in 2008!
